Book Week was a wonderful success across the Prep and Upper Prep, starting with our “Share a Story” activity, which was a lovely addition to the week. Staff from across the departments read excerpts from their favourite children’s books. Each classroom showcased a different book, from timeless classics to modern favourites. Before the sessions began, pupils chose the one that most captured their imagination and with great excitement they then set off to the classroom hosting their chosen tale.

As part of the celebrations, pupils across the school have also been taking part in our Book Week Bookmark Challenge. Pupils have been busy designing their own ideas for an official Prep School bookmark, drawing inspiration from their favourite stories, characters, and reading moments. The winning designs will be announced and these bookmarks will be printed for use throughout the school. We were also delighted to welcome two wonderful authors to school. In the Prep School, pupils enjoyed an inspiring visit from Abie Longstaff, who shared insights into her writing process and the imaginative worlds behind her much‑loved modern day fairytales. She worked with all the pupils from Nursery to Year 4, and every pupil took part in a story writing activity which fired up their imagination.

Year 5 and 6 were equally captivated by M.G. Leonard; they enjoyed a fascinating presentation on Maya’s interests, hobbies and how she researches her books. She then
worked with pupils on how to write a ‘portal’ story, coaching them through writing a structure and characters in their stories. Both visits offered pupils a unique
opportunity to meet real authors, deepen their love of reading, and discover the creativity that brings stories to life.

No Book Week celebration would be complete without the excitement of World Book Day, the school was filled with an incredible array of colourful costumes, from much‑loved classic characters to heroes and villains from modern favourites. Pupils and staff alike embraced the fun and showcased the school’s love of reading and books.
