Pupils from Nursery to Year 6 took part in our annual Make a Difference Day, joining pupils across our UK and International Prep Schools. It was inspiring for us to come together as a Brighton College family, all supporting our local communities and making a positive difference.

Our youngest pupils in Nursery and Reception worked alongside Year 3 to support the Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital, filling and decorating bags with cards and messages of comfort.

Year 1 pupils embraced their Community Helpers Project, creating thank you cards, artwork and notes for local heroes, alongside delivering biscuits with their messages of appreciation.

Year 2 pupils launched an in-school foodbank to support the Whitehawk Foodbank and took part in a school-wide tidy-up, caring for their environment.

Year 3 pupils also supported the Children’s Hospital, preparing donation bags, creating play mats and delivering these in person, accompanied by a musical performance.

Year 4 pupils took part in an environmental programme with the Sussex Dolphin Project, exploring marine wildlife, creating awareness posters and heading to the beach for a clean-up and discovery session.

Year 5 pupils built meaningful connections through visits to partner nursing homes, hosting a morning tea, performing music and enjoying conversations with residents.

Year 6 pupils supported a range of community initiatives, including Brighton Foodbank, Saltdean Lido, the Wellsbourne Healthcare garden and the RNLI in Shoreham. Another group travelled to Brighton College Prep Handcross to perform in a mini concert for the charity Befriended, celebrating connections across our family of schools.

Make a Difference Day continues to be a powerful reminder of the importance of empathy, service and community spirit. We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, maturity and kindness shown by all our pupils.
