Reception had such a lovely time during their Beach School session. The pupils were incredibly excited to head down to the beach and enjoyed a morning full of learning and exploration. One of the highlights was creating our own number lines using chalk on stones. Reception worked together to put the numbers in order and then found and counted beach objects to match each number, they were so engaged and proud of their work.
We also had lots of fun with measuring. The pupils collected different beach treasures and used balance scales to explore which items were heavy or light. They made predictions and were excited to test out their ideas.
Building rock towers was another favourite activity. The pupils experimented with making tall and short towers and loved comparing them using words like taller, shorter,
bigger and smaller. They also loved dipping their toes into the sea, even if it was freezing!
To finish the morning, we enjoyed a beach story together. Pupils listened beautifully and were keen to join in and share their favourite parts.
