This year’s Leonardo Creativity Competition was hotly contested, with an impressive 669 entries exploring the evocative themes of ‘Space’ and ‘Infinity’. The sheer breadth and quality of submissions made the judging process a formidable challenge, requiring careful deliberation to select the final list of winners.
Pupils, parents and staff gathered to celebrate the culmination of this vibrant creative journey. The evening’s programme featured the presentation of certificates and prizes, enriched by thoughtful insights from several pupils who offered fascinating glimpses into their creative processes.
A special highlight was the awarding of the prestigious Senior and Junior Mitchell Prizes, awarded for artistic excellence and personally selected by the competition’s sponsor, Old Brightonian Philip Mitchell (Ha.1960-65). This year’s recipients were Hermione and Otto, both of whom impressed with their originality and skill.
The centrepiece of the evening was the physical exhibition – a captivating display of selected winning entries that underscored the extraordinary depth of talent across the school. From 3D photography installations to an imaginative ‘black hole’ dress, the exhibition offered a striking visual narrative of creative exploration.
In the final announcement of the evening, Fenwick was declared the overall House winner – many congratulations to them on this well-deserved achievement!
We hope the competition has left all participants inspired and energised, and we eagerly look forward to seeing how their creative journeys evolve in the years to come.
