BC 25 VE Day Anniversary 008 banner

The Quad was transformed into a space for remembrance and celebration, as pupils and staff from both the Prep School and the College gathered to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day, marking the end of World War II. The Quad was adorned with flags and red, white and blue bunting, marking the significance of the day.

Following a two-minute silence at midday, the lively sounds of our 1940s band filled the air, inspiring a joyful atmosphere throughout the afternoon. Adding a touch of traditional English charm, the Durnford Morris Men captivated the audience with their energetic and colourful performance. A nostalgic treat for all ages, the popcorn machine proved popular, with its delicious aroma adding to the festive ambiance.

The gathering served as a meaningful opportunity for the whole school community to come together, acknowledging the historical importance of VE Day, and share in a moment of collective remembrance, community spirit and thankfulness for those who laid down their lives for peace in Europe.
