Get ready for an unforgettable week of theatre magic this Easter as we bring the story of Matilda The Musical JR. to life. We invite girls and boys (not just Brighton College pupils!) to join us for an exciting one-week production camp, where the cast will rehearse intensively in dance, drama and singing to create a full show in just five days.
The incredible Charlie Granville and Liz Van Tromp will be leading the company, guiding children through energetic rehearsals and vibrant musical numbers. Whether they are mastering choreography for Revolting Children or perfecting dynamic scenes, they’ll learn that "sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty" to get the job done! We’ll build our production of Matilda The Musical JR. from the ground up, and don't worry, there's no 'Chokey' here, only a world-class stage.
This culminates in the show’s performance during the afternoon on the final day, where we will invite parents and family members to join us in our Cairns Theatre.
This is a fantastic opportunity for children to dive into the excitement of putting on a show, work as part of a creative ensemble, grow in confidence and make lasting memories.

A delicious hot lunch will be provided each day, and refreshments will be available throughout the week. If you would like to bring snacks, you are more than welcome, but please note that we are a nut-free school and strictly no nuts are permitted on site.
The price per child is £390 (inc VAT).

Charlie Granville
Charlie Granville, a dynamic drama teacher and director at the College, recently directed Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and Hadestown: Teen Edition at the Cairns Theatre. With over a decade of experience as a professional comedian, Charlie has sold-out venues at the Edinburgh Fringe and starred in shows on BBC and ITV. His extensive background in both comedy and theatre brings a unique and enriching perspective to his teaching and directing.
Liz Van Tromp
During Liz’s career, she has been a Head of Performing Arts, Director of Music and Academic and Choral Director at several prominent schools. Choral highlights have included international tours, TV appearances and performing for HM Queen Elizabeth II at the Royal Albert Hall. As a musical theatre director, Liz provided the first ever choir to appear in Joseph at The London Palladium and since then has headed up numerous productions, including at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Theatre: although no prior experience is necessary for this camp, please outline any theatre, drama, dance or music experience that your child has, which may be useful for the camp directors to be aware of.
Swimming: please provide the name of the swimming club your child attends, and an indication of the competitive level your child participates at. Note that for this camp, prior experience of competitive swimming is necessary.
Netball: although no prior experience is necessary for this camp, please provide the name of the netball club your child attends, and an indication of the competitive level at which your child participates, if relevant.
