Brighton College has announced plans to establish its first school in Hove, creating an exceptional new educational offering for children aged 3 to 11.
From September 2026, Windlesham School & Nursery will become Brighton College Prep Hove, marking the beginning of an exciting new era. The school will be led by Philip Smith, formerly Deputy Head at Brighton College Prep School, whose outstanding experience, energy and vision will shape the school’s future.
Brighton College Prep Hove will also welcome pupils from St Christopher’s School, which has long been run by Brighton College, from September 2027. This move will bring together two highly regarded schools to form a vibrant, unified prep school community in Hove.
Brighton College has enjoyed long-standing and valued relationships with both schools. St Christopher’s has been part of the Brighton College family for many years, while Windlesham has a strong tradition of preparing pupils for success at Brighton College. This new chapter builds on those foundations, bringing together the very best of both schools with Brighton College’s renowned educational excellence.
As part of this major investment in the future of education in Hove, Brighton College is committing £3 million to enhance and transform the school environment. Pupils will benefit from new playgrounds, inspiring outdoor learning spaces and further improvements across an already impressive site, set in a prime location with extensive grounds and excellent recreational facilities.
Importantly, there are no plans to increase pupil numbers beyond the current capacity. The intention is to preserve the warm, nurturing and personal ‘small school’ ethos that has long been at the heart of both Windlesham and St Christopher’s schools.
Brighton College Prep Hove will become the fourth prep school in the Brighton College family, joining the award-winning Brighton College Prep School in Kemptown, Brighton College Prep Handcross and Brighton College Prep Kensington in London.
Richard Cairns, Principal of Brighton College, said: “This is a landmark moment for Brighton College. We are delighted to be adding the ‘and Hove’ to the Brighton College family of schools some 25 years after the city of Brighton & Hove did the same. We can now feel truly part of both halves of this extraordinary city. And we cannot wait to welcome parents and children to our first Discovery Day on 13 June.”
