For more than 180 years, Brighton College has been inspiring young people to be curious, confident and kind. Today, we are one of the UK's most celebrated schools, known for outstanding academic achievement, exceptional opportunities and a belief that children flourish when they are happy, supported and encouraged to be themselves.
For two unforgettable weeks, boys and girls at our Summer School are able to experience that for themselves. They are taught by Brighton College teachers, bringing the expertise, energy and intellectual curiosity of a Brighton College education to every lesson. And with exceptional facilities for science, technology, sport, music, art, design and performance, they have an extraordinary environment in which to learn.
Learn something new. Think differently. And have an unforgettable summer by the sea.
At the heart of Brighton College Summer School is an inspiring academic programme taught by Brighton College teachers and shaped by the same curiosity, creativity and ambition that define a Brighton College education.
Pupils explore STEM & Discovery, Robotics & AI, English & Oratory, Entrepreneurship & Innovation and The Arts through sessions designed to be hands-on, collaborative and, most importantly, great fun.
But the experience is about more than individual subjects. Pupils are encouraged to make connections, think differently and put their ideas into action.
Our Brighton Challenge brings this spirit to life, as teams take on a real-world challenge inspired by the city around them. They might invent, design, build, debate, create or present – sharing ideas, solving problems and learning to work together along the way.
Beyond lessons, a packed programme of activities, excursions and coastal experiences makes the most of our extraordinary location and ensures there is always something to look forward to.
Our academic programme is designed to spark curiosity, encourage ambitious thinking and give Summer School pupils the confidence to explore new ideas.
Taught by Brighton College teachers, pupils take part in engaging, hands-on sessions across four exciting areas, combining academic challenge with creativity, collaboration and discovery.
Summer at Brighton College is about making the most of every part of the day. Afternoons and evenings bring a lively programme of sport, creativity, activities and adventures, giving children the freedom to discover what they love, try something completely new and have plenty of fun with their new friends.
There aren't many summer schools where the beach is just moments from the classroom.
Brighton College sits in the heart of one of Britain’s most vibrant seaside cities. Creative, colourful and full of character, Brighton becomes part of the Summer School experience rather than simply its backdrop.
From the famous seafront and iconic pier to the winding streets of The Lanes and the spectacular Royal Pavilion, there is plenty to explore. Activities and challenges draw on Brighton’s famously creative spirit, while its beaches provide the setting for coastal adventures, sport and our Make a Difference activities.
Beyond the city, the beautiful South Downs National Park offers countryside, fresh air and even more opportunities for adventure.
Summer School attendees don't simply stay at Brighton College. For two weeks, they become part of our community, experiencing some of the traditions and values that make life here so special.
For many children, boarding is one of the most memorable parts of their Brighton College Summer School experience. It is where friendships are made, stories are shared and a busy day ends surrounded by new friends.
Our boarding houses are warm, welcoming places where pupils can relax and feel at home. Children share rooms with others of a similar age and the same gender, and wherever possible we bring together pupils from different countries and cultures. For international pupils, it is also a wonderful opportunity to speak English naturally throughout the day.
Our experienced residential team is there around the clock to make sure every child feels happy, included and supported. They get to know pupils individually, help them settle in and are always there if someone needs a chat, a little reassurance or simply help finding a missing sock.
There is plenty of structure too. Pupils eat together, enjoy evening activities with their friends and return to their boarding houses for time to unwind before bed. Age-appropriate routines ensure everyone gets the rest they need before another busy day begins.
Parents can feel confident that their child is in experienced hands. Brighton College has secure access, 24-hour security and dedicated residential staff, with clear routines and supervision throughout the day and night.
Our Health Centre provides medical support, and pupils also have dedicated time each day to keep in touch with home.
Most importantly, we want every child to feel that they belong. From the moment they arrive, they become part of a community where kindness matters and there is always someone looking out for them.
For two weeks, Brighton College isn't simply where they stay. It's home.
Brighton College Summer School has two age groups:
Junior: ages 9 to 12
Senior: ages 13 to 15
Placement is normally based on a child's age when the Summer School begins. If your child is close to the age boundary, don't worry. Our Admissions Team will consider their age, current school year and the group in which we believe they will be happiest and most confident.
For many boys and girls, living in a Brighton College boarding house is one of the most exciting parts of their summer.
Boys and girls usually share rooms with between two and four children of a similar age and the same gender. Wherever possible, international pupils are placed with children who speak different first languages, helping everyone mix, make new friends and speak English naturally throughout the day.
Our boarding houses are warm, friendly communities where pupils can relax together at the end of a busy day and quickly feel at home.
Yes. Staff-escorted airport transfers from London Gatwick and London Heathrow are included in the summer school fee on our designated arrival and departure days. Brighton is particularly convenient for international families, with Gatwick Airport approximately 30 minutes away and Heathrow around one hour away.
Families should book flights on the official arrival date of 11 July 2027 and departure date of 24 July 2027 within the arranged transfer times. If your child's flight falls outside these times, please contact our Admissions Team. We may be able to arrange an individual transfer for an additional charge.
We recommend an intermediate level of English, approximately B1+ or equivalent, for children joining Brighton College Summer School.
Our lessons are lively and interactive, so children should be comfortable speaking and understanding English well enough to join discussions, work as part of a team and enjoy the full summer school experience.
All applicants will take part in an interview as part of the admissions process. For children who do not speak English as their first language, English proficiency will also be assessed during the interview to ensure they are able to participate confidently in lessons, activities and the wider summer school experience.
Brighton College has its own Health Centre, supported by qualified medical professionals and trained first-aiders, with support available 24 hours a day.
If your child has an existing medical condition, allergy or requires regular medication, our team will ask for full details before arrival so that the appropriate support can be put in place.
Yes. At the end of their two weeks at Brighton College, every child receives an official Brighton College Summer School Certificate of Achievement, together with a written academic progress report and feedback from their boarding team.
Parents will have a wonderful opportunity to see what pupils have achieved at our final Speech Day and Graduation Ceremony, when attendees share their work and we celebrate everything they have accomplished during their time with us.
Yes. Families interested in a future Brighton College education will have the opportunity to find out more during the Summer School.
Boys and girls can choose to complete exploratory academic assessments based on the style and standard of Brighton College and Sixth Form entrance assessments. Parents will receive individual feedback, and those who would like to explore future admission to Brighton College can speak to our Admissions Team about the most appropriate next steps.
We operate a rolling admissions process, and applications will remain open until all places have been filled. As places are limited and the programme may reach capacity before the deadline, we encourage families to apply early to secure their preferred programme and avoid disappointment.
Absolutely! We also offer a 5% sibling discount for the second or subsequent child, when two or more siblings are offered places at our Summer School at the same time.
We will be pleased to provide a Study Support Letter once all enrolment requirements have been completed, which can be used to support your child’s visa application. We encourage families to check that all required documentation has been submitted and that the appropriate visa or travel authorisation is in place before travelling to the UK.
