We were delighted to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Mr Cairns joining Brighton College, in January 2006.

We have reflected on the extraordinary, unique transformation that has taken place in our school under his leadership: a physical transformation that has seen world-class educational facilities rise up and new schools formed as part of the Brighton family; an academic transformation, that has seen the school rise from 147th in the league tables, to our current lofty position (the equivalent of Chertsey Town winning the Premier League!); and what I called a ‘deeper transformation’ of our school’s values and ethos, rooted in the value and celebration of each individual for who they are, and a firm belief that, however old, they can and will make a positive difference in the world.

Led by our Senior Prefects, it was excellent (and great fun!) to pause and celebrate all that has happened under Mr Cairns’ leadership in the past 20 years, first as
Head Master and now as Principal, with plenty more excitement and adventure to come for the College and for the entire Brighton College community.
