The best way to experience what life is like at Brighton College is to join us at an Open Morning, where you will have the chance to talk to pupils and teachers about what makes our school such a special place.
Kelly and Matthew have been selected to have their work shown at local art gallery ‘Labyrinth’. As part of the Leonardo Competition, Kelly and Matthew were been selected from 683 entries and praised by the judges for their artistic daring, research, technical ability, and original responses to the themes.
Matthew ‘s passion for photography began when he chose it as a GCSE option – he scored 100% in the subject. For him, photography is about capturing different perspectives of our world in a single frame that may tend to be overlooked, in order to give the viewer an alternative and more diverse outlook than before. After A-levels, he plans to continue his own journey in photography by keeping it up as an activity at university.
Kelly’s winning entry, ‘Journey Home’, depicts a street in Hong Kong. Alongside her passion for art, she is interested in literature and theatre. Literature often serves as a source of inspiration for her art, as seen through the incorporation of a quote from her favourite Chinese book in her drawing. In English, the quote says: “It’s light emanating from millions of windows, it’s the hustle and bustle of human life. While the world is dazzlingly magnificent, welcome home.”
Our pupils have loved seeing their work in a professional context and getting feedback from industry experts.
