St Barts Brighton College 2 2

Brighton College’s Symphony Orchestra, Chapel Choir, and Choral Society united to give a jawdropping concert at St Bartholomew’s Church, Brighton - one of Europe’s tallest churches.

Aided by some very energetic conducting from Mr Dustagheer and Mr Mathias, as well as the help of students from the Royal College and Royal Academy of Music, Brighton College pupils tried their hand at some of our most ambitious repertoire yet, making the most of the venue’s wonderful acoustics.

The first piece was an original collection of songs by Bruno, which he had recently adapted for full orchestra.

The end result was magnificent, blending classical instruments and vocals with music technology and unique samples. Next, Brian delivered a virtuoso performance of Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor. He did not disappoint, playing the technically demanding music with ease and agility. Lastly, the full choir and orchestra came together to perform the final movement of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony - one of his largest and most challenging works.
