The College’s annual Strictly Come Dancing competition once again proved to be a dazzling evening of entertainment. The Cairns Theatre was transformed into a glittering ballroom as our talented Lower Sixth dancers took to the floor, performing to rapturous applause from an enthusiastic audience and an expert judging panel.
After captivating both judges and crowd with their outstanding Jive, Elsie-Lara and Forrest were crowned this year’s Strictly champions. The award for Most Entertaining Couple went to Sianna and Joe, whose energetic Salsa brought excitement and flair to the stage.
The remaining finalists, Deniz, Lucas, Jessica, Lucas, Millie, Seb, Annie and Cameron delivered performances full of energy and style throughout the evening. Alongside their partnered routines, they impressed with two exhilarating group dances, showcasing their talent in the American Smooth, Charleston, Quickstep and Cha Cha.
The judging panel, featuring West End and Hollywood dance star Lee Bridgman, 2016 Brighton College Strictly champion and Old Brightonian Joe Cappai (Al. 2002-17) and Victoria Schofield, an accomplished dancer and choreographer, praised the exceptionally high standard and infectious enthusiasm of every performance.
The Brighton College Swing Band provided a sensational live soundtrack, delighting the audience with their musical interludes and enhancing the magic of the evening under the disco ball. Adding to the excitement, last year’s champions, Ernest and Lisa, returned to perform a sizzling salsa before crowning the new winners.
Leconfield and Chichester House were proud to support the event, hosting a bar and raffle in aid of their chosen charities, Mind and Médecins Sans Frontières.
